Be Your Own Advocate
March 22, 2020
How often do you let other people drive your food choices? When…
It’s easier to just say yes to going out to eat with a friend rather than suggest eating at home or taking a picnic somewhere so you can be in control of what you eat
You don’t want to eat the dessert, but you don’t want to hurt your cousin’s feelings
You know you’ll be teased about eating “rabbit food” so you eat something everyone else is eating even though it doesn’t support your health goals
You don’t want to be labeled “vegan” so you eat meat or dairy products just to show you’re not
What if instead you decide to be your own advocate?
An advocate is defined as someone who ensures others’ voices are heard. An advocate champions someone’s rights, pleads the cause of another, and defends a cause. An advocate is a support, champions another, and has another’s back. So, what if…
When someone asks you to go out to eat, you champion your healthy menu requirements even if it means going to a different restaurant than the one they choose?
When your family teases you or points out your flaws around food and eating, you defend your own cause of attaining the healthy life you long to create even if you sometimes make mistakes?
When someone tries to label you around how you eat, you speak up and make it clear in a loving way that you have a vision for your health and how you eat supports that vision?
How would that change things for you?
Be an advocate for your health! Be your own heroine. Be your own BFF! You’re worth it and all of heaven is cheering you on!
Yours in radiant health,
